In
this work, Jackson describes parts of her body by telling the reader stories or
memories about it. One section explains her tattoos, and starts with “I have twenty-eight
tattoos, of which two are visible.” In
our society, the level of acceptance of a tattoo always depends on the meaning of
the tattoo or the reason why someone got the tattoo. Jackson’s idea of having
invisible tattoos, which are totally private, sounds so compelling to me, that
I decided to document this part of Shelley Jackson's life.
